cameras with a conscience

About / FAQ

This is the start of something…welcome to the movement.

This blog is meant to track the progression of thought to action; to document the implementation of simple ideas into simple acts of love.
Cameras With a Conscience is really just a fancy name to give to a small part of a much greater movement that has been going on for centuries – a movement of love for others and an attempt to show that love in practical ways.
To make it short and blunt : This blog will track the making of or attempts to make a non-profit ogranization. To read the more fancy manifesto, just click on ‘the manifesto’ in the nav. bar.
I hope this inspires you to act.

How does it work?

The idea is simple:

1. Document – Using photography – areas that need help. While we are doing this, we will try to find something that will help others in need…this could be helping to build or repair a house, a school, an orphanage or provide school supplies to children whose families can not afford them…

2. Inform - Through exhibits, photo essays, talks, and the internet, we will attempt to inform our friends and family about the issues and projects we have discovered.

3. Help - We hope to raise funds and gather materials to support and help the people we come in contact with.

4. Act – We will work to put those funds and materials to work. Sometimes, this will mean we will go and physically deliver, but we also recognize that other groups and organizations will at times be more effective than us at action. When this happens, we will partner with and support others to enact change.

Who Am I?

I’m a normal person, like you, who wants to do something meaningful with my life. I’m a high school teacher, a husband, a father, and photographer. My family and I have decided it is time to get personally involved in helping others, and that is what we are trying to do…

Why is there a picture of a coffee cup on this page?
Here’s why: I picked up a coffee right before jumping on our flight from Seattle to San Diego on the beginning of DCS’s o7 TJ missions trip. It was double cupped, which drives me nuts, but the inside cup had that quote on it. Those words really got me thinking…
Be the example; spread hope. – Cat Cora
Yes, moments of truth and clarity can even be found on a coffee cup…
