GOALS!

Here’s a list of our goals for Fall 08-09, that came out of a soup and nacho meeting with the team of dreamers!

1. Fund 2 house builds in Tijuana for Spring Break 09! (update: We reduced our goal to 1 house build when we realized we only had 3 months to raise funds for it before our spring break trip… – updated Mar. 09) We’ll be going with a group of Young Life students to build these in March.
Funds must be in place by Jan.15, so we can line up our contractor and get everything ready for building…

2. 100 Fair Trade Soccer Balls! To be delivered throughout the year (Spring Break drop in Tijuana & area, Summer drop in Haiti, Fall 09 drop in Tijuana).  (March Update: To date – 52 Balls hand delivered in Tijuana and area! Only 48 to go!!)

3. 100 School Bags! To be delivered throughout the year to same locations as the soccer balls. (March Update: To date: 76 School bags were hand delivered in March in Tijuana and area! Only 24 left too meet this year’s goal!)

4. 100 School Supply Kits that will be delivered in the school bags. (March Update: This is a tough one for us to pin down…we may need to put it on hold, as we don’t want to give things that aren’t useful, and we don’t want to flood the market with goods from Canada…we’re looking to find ways to support local economies in the countries we’re working in…)

5. CWAC chill TEES You buy one, and one gets hand delivered to a child in TJ or Haiti. (Update: this one’s on hold for now. We’ll update asap, as we really like this idea!)

6. Funding the building of ONE CLASSROOM in Haiti. (Update – this one is in the works…more news to come…)

7. Supporting the funding of a house build in Fall 09 in Tijuana. (Update – as far as we know, the team we were hoping to support funding with is not planning on building a house in the fall of 09).
